American Neo-Colonial is an architectural style that first emerged under the period of colonial rule in the United States in the 1600s and 1700s. Today, the style proliferated in the 20th century and remains one of the most popular architectural home styles throughout the United States to this day. This trend has reached the Philippine shores but adapted to vernacular conditions transforming it into a more simplified, modernized, and austere form.
Key Colonial features such as simple layouts, symmetrical window designs, and gabled roofs are combined with Victorian features, such as horizontal panelboard walls, intricate detailing, porticos, moldings, and large windows.
Arienza Architects adopted the Neo-colonial style for two of its projects located in two municipalities.The design for Toledo complements the rural setting of the area while the Minglanilla settlement conforms to the rolling terrain of the site.
