HIGHLAND TUDOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STYLE

SAN JOSEMARIA VILLAGE
TALISAY CITY, CEBU

San Josemaria Village is located in a mountainous region of Talisay. The  setting warrants a development that is suited for a “mountain architecture  vernacular” that consists of bold, natural, and textured buildings and  materials. The housing structures should functionally and aesthetically  withstand rugged mountainous environments, as well as blend into the  topography.

To accommodate this aesthetic requirement, the Architect selected an  unconventional architectural style: the Highland Tudor Style which blends  well with the topography and complements the mountain-themed setting.

Tudor architecture refers to the period between 1485 to 1558 when craftsmen  built sophisticated two-toned manor homes with a combination of  Renaissance and Gothic design elements. Tudor homes are usually  characterized by their steeply pitched gable roofs, playfully elaborate  masonry chimneys (often with chimney pots), often with multiple overlapping,  front-facing gables (the triangular portion of the roof) of varying heights. It is  recognizable by several distinguishable features such as embellished  doorways, groupings of windows, and decorative half-timbering (an exposed  mock wood framework of thin boards with the spaces between the timbers  filled with masonry or stucco).
